This elegant 6 month or infant sized bonnet teaches you the basics of hemstitching. This classic bonnet style contains delicate pink embroidery featuring an over abundance of granito flowers with eyelet centers and hemstitched bars. The front brim is hemstitched along the fold and adorned with ribbon rosette ties.
Stitches and techniques mastered during class time include: how to make ribbon rosettes, preparing your fabric for hemstitching, basic hemstitching, hemstitching along a fold, ladder hemstitched bars, stem stitching, traditional eyelets, padded satin stitches and granito flowers.
This bonnet compliments my Margie Hemstitched Daygown. Class time will concentrate on bonnet prep and mastering all embroidery techniques presented. Simple construction details will be discussed but all construction will be completed at home.
Complete Kit Contents: Ulster linen; lining fabric; DMC 50 wt. machine embroidery thread; embroidery floss; needles; silk-satin ribbons; bonnet patterns and class handout.
Class Supplies: Basic sewing supplies; tiny curved blade embroidery scissors (like manicure scissors) or small blade embroidery scissors; used #60 or #65 universal machine needle; basting thread (a color to show on white fabric); fine line marking pen; 6″ clear ruler; 3″ x 6″ or 4″ Bates embroidery hoop (not needed if you embroider over your finger); light and extension cord (required); magnification (required).
Home Supplies: Sewing machine capable of zigzag stitching; 1/4″ foot (optional); white thread.
This class can be taught concurrently with my Margie Beginning Hemstitched Bonnet class. Only one additional stitch is introduced for this bonnet. This bonnet offers a challenge to the advanced/ambitious embroiderer.
