This airy white Ulster linen 6 month size daygown is a hemstitcher′s dream. The gown features delicate rows and blocks of pink embroidered flowers and a multitude of hemstitching.
The elegant hem features numerous hemstitched bars interspersed with blocks containing granito and shadow worked flowers. The front yoke and sleeves contain hemstitched tucks while the sleeves, back pleat and upper hem area reveal additional rows of delicate flowers for added interest.
Stitches and techniques mastered during class: preparing fabric for hemstitching, basic hemstitching, hemstitching along the fold, ladder hemstitched bars, stem stitch, eyelets, granitos, granito flowers and hand stitched buttonholes.
Construction details will be discussed in class but gown construction will be completed at home.
Complete Kit Contents: Ulster 1200 linen, DMC 50 wt. machine embroidery thread (2), floss, needles, buttons, daygown pattern and class handout
Class Supplies: Basic sewing supplies, large bath towel, tiny curved blade embroidery scissors, used #60 or #65 universal machine needle, basting thread (dark enough to show on white but not too bold), graduated awl, fine marking pen or mechanical pencil, light and extension cord, magnification (required), 6″ clear ruler, 3″ x 6″ oval or 4″ round embroidery hoop (not needed if you embroider over your finger)
Home Supplies: Sewing machine capable of zigzag stitching, 1/4″ foot (optional), #60 or #65 universal machine needle, rotary cutter, mat and ruler
