Learn all the tricks and construction techniques needed to create this uniquely adorable ready-to-smock garment. \u00a0This 3, 6, 12 or 18 month bishop top and romper are pleated together creating a 1-piece garment for your baby\u2019s wardrobe.\u00a0 The sleeves are bound with contrast bias topping the summery fashionable angel sleeves.\u00a0 The romper has a snapped crotch making for easy diaper changes and a deep placket for easy dressing.\u00a0 The romper is fully lined below the pleating area for a clean interior finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Day 1 of class you will be cutting out your fabrics, binding your sleeve edges and sewing the bishop and romper front and back shoulder seams together in preparation for pleating.  Pleating will be demoed in class.  Your homework before the next day\u2019s class will be to pleat your garment and smock the first holding row in preparation for next steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 2 we will cover continuous placket construction; bias neckband finish; french seams; armhole finishing; crotch closure finish options and creating casings for your leg elastic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When class is complete you will be well on your way to finishing this cute ready-to smock creation and dreaming of the smocking design you will add to complete this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Complete Kit Contents:<\/strong>\u00a0Outer top fabric; romper fabric; lining fabric; fusible interfacing; leg elastic; snaps; button; needles; construction thread; sampling of floss; 3, 6, 12 & 18 month pattern; class handout<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional Sewing Supplies:<\/strong>\u00a0(to use in class) Pleater; small dowel rod; pleating thread; any items you like to use while pleating; Sewing machine in good working order cleaned and ready for class; extension cord and lighting (recommended); bring your favorite machine feet (I used: \u00bc\u201d foot; standard foot; lace joining foot); 70\/10 universal needle; fabric scissors; tape measure or ruler (whichever you prefer for cutting out); glass head pins; fine line fabric marker; sewing gauge (optional); scissors for trimming seams and threads;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
