Madeira hems make a project look expensive because of the contrast hemline and the extra stitching required for embellishment.  This process is fairly inexpensive and easy to do once you have all the tools gathered that you need along with the technique mastered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this class you will be making a standard size pillowcase with a contrasting scalloped hem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beginning part of class will be spent getting our contrast fabric attached to the base fabric and ready for turning under the appliqu\u00e9 edge.  The upper contrast edge of the hem will be turned under and pinstitched along the curved edge.  You will have a color choice of blue, pink or mint for your contrast edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remainder of class will be spent learning additional embroidery stitches that will embellish our project \u2013 stem\/outline; French knots; granitos; lazy daisies; and padded satin stitch to be exact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Complete Kit Contents:<\/strong> Fine quality Japanese lawn; Thread for pinstitching; Floss; Needles; Finger shield; Project pattern; Class handout<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional Sewing Supplies:<\/strong> (to use in class) 18\u201d Ruler or tape measure; Fabric shears (to even out fabric edges); Paper scissors; Colored basting thread; Embroidery scissors (for cutting threads); very fine line marking pen or pencil; glass head pins; Pen for taking notes; 3\u201d x 6\u201d oval or 4\u201d round embroidery hoop (optional); Extension cord; Additional lighting (required); Magnification (recommended); light box (optional for tracing design); tape to secure pattern for tracing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
