Get ready for summer fun by stitching this sweet, embroidered yoke top for girls. The pattern is available for sizes 6, 7 or 8 and features angel sleeves, a keyhole back opening, softly pleated skirt (to allow for easy movement) and a round neckline. Embroidery is the star feature of this creation enhancing the front entire yoke area.
Stitches featured on this project and mastered during class time include: hemstitching; hemstitching variation on chambray; split backstitch; padded satin stitch; and french knots.
We will start class concentrating on hemstitching on a large grain fabric. When you are comfortable with that you will move to a smaller count linen then progressing to the finer weave of chambray before lunch. When class resumes in the afternoon we will concentrate on our padded satin stitch (using split backstitch for our padding) and touch on how to make a perfect french knot to top off the afternoon.
During class we will discuss some possible substitute stitches if you find these not to your liking.
Before class is complete we will discuss garment construction which will take place at home.
