Class Title: Elizabeth
Area of Study: Embroidery (Hand)
Class Hours: 6
Class Type: Project
Skill Level: Intermediate
This special 6 and 12 month size shadow square dress was inspired by an antique garment I found several years ago while studying Madeira embroidery. The dress featured numerous miniature embroidered squares sprinkled within a simple floral embroidered design. I’m very excited to share my interpretation of this sweet dress with you.
My basic yoke dress design features a high yoke, bias neckband, button-down-the back opening and short puffed sleeves each finished with a bias band.
Embroidery stitches included in my design and mastered during class time include: shadow work squares; miniature eyelets; stem/outline stitches; lazy daisies; and french knots. Sample fabric will be included in your kit if you choose to work on that during class instead of stitching on your dress fabric. Left-handed instructions will be provided upon request where appropriate.
Fabric and pattern for an A-line button shouldered slip will be included in your kit.
As this is a hand embroidery class, a brief discussion of dress and slip construction will take place during class time but all construction will be completed at home.
