This unique embroidery class offers you a wide number of choices to help you customize a special project for baby – a white Pima Batiste shadow worked diaper shirt and Pima Classics diaper cover!
First you must decide – are you making this for a baby boy or girl? The project starts with a side button diaper shirt. Let’s add sleeve choices: angel ruffle sleeve, short sleeve or sleeveless version. How would you like to finish your shirt edges? Hems of bias binding, hand stitch scallops or a combination of the two? The choice is yours! What color gingham diaper cover and bias would you like: navy, light blue, red or light pink? Depending on your selection, floss colors included in your kit will vary.
The main focal point of your shirt will be a grouping of small shadow worked designs – you choose the design! Construction vehicles, scotty dogs, butterflies and ribbons or add your own miniature shadow work design. Your options are endless!
A pre-class video will discuss project introduction, fabric washing instructions and prep for class. Class time will concentrate on shirt design, shadow work techniques, how to stitch scallop edgings, accent stitches and time for questions. A construction video demonstrating steps to complete this project will be available at the conclusion of class. When class is complete you will have all the tools needed to master any shadow work or scalloped hem design…and you will have a sweet outfit for any special baby!
Complete Kit Contents: White pima batiste; Pima Classics gingham – navy, red, light blue or light pink (choose one); spool of thread; interfacing; elastic; needles; buttons; floss; finger shield; pattern and class handout.

Student Supplies: Paper scissors; cutting shears; very sharp embroidery scissors (for cutting threads and trimming fabric); fine line marking pen; pencil; ruler or tape measure; your favorite sewing tools; sewing machine; ¼” machine foot (optional); rotary cutter, ruler and mat; Additional lighting (required); Magnification (required); iron and surface for pressing; water spray bottle; garment rack.
