When my daughters were little, daygowns commemorating special times were a must. I dreamed up this sweet delight to help celebrate that special holiday occasion.
Offering up hemstitched bars along the collar, shadow worked holly and ribbons, french knot holly berries, padded satin stitch leaves and a backstitched message announcing “Baby’s First Christmas.” This project explores the techniques of hemstitching along the fold and how to create a hemstitched placket and tucks.
We will master the following techniques during our class time:
- Hemstitched Bars
- Back stitch
- Padded satin stitch
- Shadow work
- French knot
You will learn the steps involved to create these stitches along with several helpful hints for perfecting your work. Exercises for each will be provided along with comprehensive handouts to guide you through your stitching journey!

Student Supplies: embroidery scissors with a fine sharp point; mechanical pencil or very fine line washable marking pen; 8″ embroidery hoop, glass head pins; white basting thread; light & extension cord (required); magnification (required)
