Class Title: Bullion Bouquet
Area of Study: Embroidery
Class Hours: 3 or 6
Class Type: Notebook
Skill Level: All skill levels are welcome. Basic embroidery skills are helpful but not necessary.
Sewing skills required: None
Bullions (a common embroidery stitch) look like elongated knots. You can transform these knots to create buds, flowers, leaves and fancy shapes. Flowers provide an inspiring theme for this notebook class because of their breathtaking beauty; a beauty you can recreate on your fabric. Nature presents them to us in a wide variety of shapes and colors, we just add our imaginations, a little know how, a needle and some thread!
Beginning embroiderers often fear these stitches but with some easy guidelines and helpful hints any level of embroiderer can create beautiful bullions. Trouble shooting will be one of the main goals for our class. With a little practice and my detailed handouts, perfect bullions are just a step away!
The “bouquet” of bullions discussed and practiced during this class are:
- The straight bullion
- Bullion loops
- Bullion buds
- The classic bullion rose
- Double petal bullion flowers
- Bullion pinwheels
- Attaching a button with a bullion rose
- And as time permits we will review some “designer” bullion roses.
The inspiration of nature’s beauty will stimulate you to perfect your stitching efforts and allow you to be at ease with every bullion you create.
