Class Title: Needles 101
Area of Study: Embroidery
Class Hours: 3
Class Type: Notebook
Skill Level: Any student is welcome in this class. Knowledge of basic embroidery skills will help any beginner feel comfortable.
Have you ever decided you wanted to embroider a design and you didn’t know what needle to use? Should you care? Have you looked at your pincushion and thought what kind of needle is this? Have you ever picked up any old needle to embroider something and you struggled to get the perfect results even though you know it was stitched properly? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this class is for you!
Class time will be spent identifying characteristics of different types of hand embroidery needles and what sets them apart. When you feel confident you can recall their differences you will be given several “mystery” needles to identify.
You will stitch a sampling (as time allows) of some basic embroidery stitches (french knot, backstitch and bullion) using different needles. We will discuss why or why not a certain needle selection is important.
When class is complete you will have a sampling of needles and a knowledge of the best needles needed to complete the job. This class will help you thoroughly enjoy your next embroidery experience.
